The Youth Red Cross Unit has been introduced from the session 2014-15 in Bahugram Degree College Bahugram.


The Youth Red Cross of the college functions to development among the youth the noble attitude to help the needy and the distressed and for the purpose of inculcating in the youth of the country the ideal of peace and the practice of service, especially in relation to the case of their own health and thatof other, the understanding and acceptance of civil and human responsibility. The primary aims of the Red Cross are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Voluntary service, Unity and Universality.

Keeping this in view the YRC shall endeavour for –

(i) Promotion of potentialities of the youth.

(ii) Promotion of health, hygiene and sanitation.

(iii) Promotion of motivations among the youth for fostering friendship and fraternity at the national and international levels.

Formation of group

There shall be an YRC unit in the college consisting of students volunteers and a member of teaching staff who will function as counsellor of the group and will remain in charge of activities. The student volunteers have to elect the office bearers namely Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary among themselves. Counsellor will hold the meeting regularly to workout and takeup the activities.


Rs. 10/- is to be collected from all the students at the time of admission. Out of the total collection 30% will be sent as state share and the balance amount will be deposited in a nationalized Bank for operation of funds of the Youth Red Cross group. The principal of the college may operate the account with the assistance of the counsellor.

(ii) College hygiene.

(iii) Community health.

(iv) Service to the sick and suffering.

(v) Blood donation camp.

(vi) S. John’s Ambulance course.

(vii) Organization of Red Cross volunteer camp.

(viii)Awareness programmes regarding social activities  in nearby villages.
